[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Kim Tae-nyeon, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, welcomed Kim Jong-in, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, expressing his intention to amend the Fair Trade Act and the Commercial Act, saying, "I hope the Fair Economy 3 Acts will be passed in this regular session of the National Assembly."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 16th, Floor Leader Kim said, "Chairman Kim expressed his intention to amend the Fair Trade Act and the Commercial Act in a media interview," adding, "I welcome Chairman Kim's response to the Democratic Party's promotion of the Fair Economy 3 Acts."
He continued, "It is also pleasing that this is a response to the joint legislative proposal by our party leader Lee Nak-yeon and the opposition. I hope that the ruling and opposition parties will cooperate to pass the Fair Economy 3 Acts in this regular session of the National Assembly."
He added, "In the 19th and 20th National Assembly, bills related to economic democratization were repeatedly blocked due to opposition from the opposition party, formerly the Liberty Korea Party, now the People Power Party," and said, "I expect this time to be different. I will actively consult with the opposition party so that the relevant bills can be discussed in the related standing committees."
Regarding the passage of the 4th supplementary budget, he said, "The ruling and opposition parties have agreed to pass the 4th supplementary budget at the plenary session on the 22nd," adding, "It is fortunate that we can provide some comfort to the people suffering from COVID-19."
He said, "This supplementary budget is a tailored emergency disaster relief fund to help our small business owners, self-employed people, job seekers, and unemployed who are struggling day by day," and emphasized, "We will do our best in the review process to ensure that the budget is allocated appropriately to maximize its effect. I urge the government to thoroughly and meticulously prepare in advance so that the 4th supplementary budget can be reorganized before Chuseok."
