Buan-gun 'FCM Technology' Wins Grand Prize at the 4th G-Valley Startup Competition
[Buan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Tae-in] On the 15th, Buan-gun, Jeonbuk announced that FCM Technology Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Jung-gyu), a hydrogen fuel cell startup, won the grand prize at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s ‘2020 4th G-Valley Startup Competition.’
The ‘G-Valley Startup Competition’ held on the 10th was hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, Seoul City, Guro-gu, Geumcheon-gu, Soongsil University, Korea Institute of Design Promotion, and Seoul Business Agency.
At the event, awardees selected as promising startups in future new growth industries received a total of 13 awards from participating organizations, including the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award and the Seoul Mayor’s Award, along with prize money totaling 32 million KRW.
This year marked the 4th edition of the competition, with a total of 250 teams participating. After the first (document) and second (presentation) rounds of evaluation, 13 teams were selected to compete in a demo day on-site to determine the final rankings.
FCM Technology, which won the grand prize, operates a corporate-affiliated research institute in the renewable energy complex in Haseo-myeon, Buan-gun, and manufactures parts related to MEA (Membrane Electrode Assembly), a core component of hydrogen fuel cells.
A Buan-gun official stated, “Since the county has achieved good results through the new growth package business support project to foster the hydrogen industry, Buan will become a new mecca of hope for hydrogen fuel cell startups. We will do our best to support startups facing difficulties in attracting new investments due to COVID-19.”
