[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Samsung Electronics announced on the 15th that it will sponsor the '55th National Skills Competition' to foster excellent skilled workers.
This year's 'National Skills Competition' will be held from the 14th to the 21st of this month at seven venues including Jeonbuk High-Tech High School and Gunsan Mechanical Technical High School in Jeollabuk-do, with about 1,800 participants competing in 50 categories such as Mobile Robotics, Mechatronics, and Mechanical Design CAD.
This time, demonstration competitions will be held in three new categories under consideration for introduction from next year's competition: Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, and Industrial Drone Control. The Cyber Security and Cloud Computing categories were newly introduced at last year's International Skills Olympics held in Kazan, Russia.
Samsung Electronics plans to award the 'Samsung Electronics Sponsorship Award' to participants who demonstrate outstanding skills in fields such as machinery and IT at the awards ceremony on the 21st, when the competition concludes.
Previously, Samsung Electronics signed a 'Skills Promotion Agreement' with the Ministry of Employment and Labor in 2006 and has been consistently sponsoring the 'National Skills Competition' and the South Korean national team since 2007, continuously recruiting excellent skilled workers.
At the '45th International Skills Olympics' held in Kazan, Russia, in August last year, Samsung Electronics also sponsored the event as the top-tier title sponsor.
