US Lifts China Travel Ban... Downgraded to Level 3 After Review
8 Months Since Travel Ban Implemented This January
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The United States has downgraded its travel advisory for its citizens traveling to China, which had been strengthened to the highest level of 'Do Not Travel' due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, to one level lower, 'Reconsider Travel.'
On the 14th (local time), the U.S. Department of State announced in a press release that it would adjust the travel advisory for China, including Hong Kong, to Level 3, 'Reconsider Travel.'
The United States had recommended a global travel ban in March. Earlier, at the end of January, it had proactively issued a travel ban advisory specifically for China.

In early last month, the U.S. lifted the travel ban recommendation for the entire world and shifted to country-specific assessments, but maintained the 'Do Not Travel' advisory for China, which was managing the COVID-19 situation. At that time, South Korea was assigned a Level 3 'Reconsider Travel' advisory.
