"One Kick to Blow Away COVID-19" ... Seoul City to Live Stream Taekwondo Performance Online
Starting with the 'Nolja Taekwondo Demonstration Team' on the 16th, a total of 8 sessions scheduled until November
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul City announced on the 15th that it will present a Taekwondo performance via online live streaming to awaken the willpower for health, which is easily weakened by the 'stay-at-home life' after the COVID-19 pandemic, and to satisfy citizens' craving for culture and tourism.
Seoul City's Taekwondo performances have been held annually since 2007 through regular performances at Namsangol Hanok Village and street performances, bringing joy to domestic and international tourists visiting Seoul. Due to the COVID-19 situation, this year’s event will be held as an online performance, promising even more attractions and enjoyment.
The first performance will take place on the 16th at 12 PM, featuring a collaboration between the Taekwondo demonstration team 'Nolja' and a b-boying team that won first place in the performance category at the world competition 'Battle of the Year,' the first Korean team to do so. Seoul City introduced that the performance will captivate the audience’s senses through unique movements and maximized music.
Leeteuk, the main vocalist of the Hallyu star group Super Junior and an MC, along with English-speaking broadcaster Eva Popiel, will join the exciting journey of Taekwondo to add fun to the performance and promote the value and excellence of Taekwondo.
Until November, a total of seven teams representing Korea will showcase 'traditional Taekwondo demonstration performances' and 'creative Taekwondo cultural performances' at the Kukkiwon permanent performance hall, Namsangol Hanok Village Cheonugak stage, and Taekwondowon T1 arena in Muju-gun, Jeonbuk Province.
The performances will be live-streamed online through official YouTube and Naver TV channels, and highlight videos and episodes will be continuously uploaded to increase the number of subscribers.
Joo Yong-tae, Director of Seoul City Tourism and Sports Bureau, said, "The 2020 Seoul City online Taekwondo performance will bring vitality to citizens’ daily lives exhausted by COVID-19," adding, "All participants will strictly follow COVID-19 prevention guidelines such as wearing masks and temperature checks to set a model case for contactless performances."
