People Party on Revealing Real Name of Whistleblower in Suspicions Against Choo's Son: "Hwanghee Should Resign from Assembly"
"We Will Take the Lead in Establishing Legal Protections for Gongikjeboja"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the 14th, the People’s Party criticized Rep. Hwang Hee of the Democratic Party of Korea for revealing the real name of the whistleblower related to the preferential treatment allegations involving Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae’s son, stating, “Thanks to Rep. Hwang’s use of expressions such as ‘sole perpetrator’ and ‘accomplice’ and the disclosure of the whistleblower’s real name, a young Korean who pointed out the unfair society to comfort powerless soldiers’ feelings of self-loathing has been driven into a corner,” and added, “I can say without hesitation that he is unqualified as a representative of the public will.”
People’s Party spokesperson Ahn Hye-jin said in a statement that day, “Although we may not be able to applaud the young whistleblower who courageously came forward on behalf of his fellow soldiers who sadly do not have a party leader mother, Rep. Hwang, who disparaged him as a criminal and threw him to be preyed upon by hardcore progressives, not only disgraced the current corporal who reported the case but also insulted countless citizens who have strived to speak the truth for a transparent society without yielding to injustice, as well as the people who have fought against numerous injustices and unfairness.”
Spokesperson Ahn added, “It is infuriating that the current corporal, who hoped for a fair world without preferential treatment, a country where everyone is equal, and respect for everyone’s human rights, is now suffering from collective bullying to the extent that he may have to give up a normal life journey, due to repeated reckless remarks and immature actions by politicians. If we can no longer expect basic ethical awareness and the qualities required of politicians, then Rep. Hwang, whose human rights awareness is at rock bottom, should immediately resign from his position as the best course of action for the people.”

Spokesperson Ahn also stated, “The People’s Party will take the lead in thoroughly establishing legal protections for whistleblowers in order to protect the current corporal, who is trembling alone in fear amid the ruling party lawmakers’ collective witch hunt, and to activate internal whistleblowing, which is the most efficient way to eradicate corruption.”
