Geumcheon-gu Infectious Disease Prevention and Management Center Construction 'First Step'
Establishment of an 'Infectious Disease Safe Zone' Inside Geumcheon-gu Public Health Center
Blueprint for the 'Infectious Disease Safety Space' within Geumcheon-gu Public Health Center
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is establishing an 'Infectious Disease Safety Space' within the public health center as the first task of the 'Infectious Disease Prevention Management Center Construction Project.'
The district plans to remodel the infectious disease management room and civil service office located on the second floor of the public health center to create the infectious disease safety space. Under normal circumstances, it will be used as a treatment room for infectious disease patients such as those with measles and tuberculosis. In the event of an epidemic, it will be converted into a permanent screening clinic and operated in conjunction with the integrated negative pressure container screening clinic set up outside the health center.
The infectious disease safety space will be designed to fundamentally block the spread of infectious diseases in the community by separating the movement paths of suspected patients and medical staff, in addition to screening and specimen collection functions for symptomatic individuals of new infectious diseases.
Earlier, the district secured 200 million KRW in national and city funds last August to prepare the infectious disease safety space and is pushing forward with the project aiming for completion by the end of this year.
Additionally, 'Smart Air Showers' will be pilot-installed at the entrances on the first floor of the district office and the second floor of the public health center to create a safe building environment that protects both employees and visitors from infectious diseases and fine dust.
To provide professional and systematic infectious disease prevention management, the district is promoting the 'Infectious Disease Prevention Management Center Construction Project' divided into five tasks by 2025.
Starting with the first task, 'Establishment of Infectious Disease Safety Space,' the district plans to sequentially implement 'Strengthening Infectious Disease Education and Prevention Activities,' 'Expansion of Infectious Disease Management Professional Personnel,' 'Regular Stockpiling of Self-Disinfection and Infectious Disease Response Equipment,' and 'Establishment of an Organic Cooperation System with Local Medical Institutions.'
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, "In preparation for infectious disease crises that may arise anytime in the future, not just COVID-19, we will accelerate the project to establish an infectious disease response system and comprehensively manage infectious disease crisis situations with the safety and health of residents as the top priority."
