The Helping Hands of Chaewoon in Gangbuk-gu Continue Through Hangawi
Donations of Hand Sanitizers, Air Coolers, and Rice from Various Regions to Help Neighbors in Need... Gangbuk-gu Promotes Sharing Event Until September 29 for Chuseok
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyum-soo) continues to extend warm hands to neighbors struggling due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On August 24, the district held a donation ceremony for COVID-19 prevention supplies with DYNTec (CEO Lim Hyung-doo), an audiovisual and information communication company located in Songjung-dong, Gangbuk-gu. The donated items consisted of 1,000 bottles of 500ml hand sanitizer worth approximately 15 million KRW. The hand sanitizers were distributed to four comprehensive social welfare centers in the area.
On September 3, Ilwol (CEO Lee Kwang-mo), a company selling electric mats and health devices, donated 1,000 cooling fans worth about 55 million KRW. The cooling fans were provided to low-income households, welfare crisis families, and elderly people in care through the local community centers, health centers, and the Gangbuk-gu Community Security Council.
The next day, on September 4, Bogwangsa Temple (Chief Monk Hyunjoong), located in Ui-dong, continued the sharing. The donated items were 750 bags of 10kg rice, worth approximately 20 million KRW. The rice was distributed to low-income residents via community centers and also delivered to 25 welfare facilities for the disabled, as well as to the Happy Sharing Gangbuk Food Bank and Market.
In addition, 30 organizations and residents, including the Specialized Construction Mutual Aid Association, donated cash amounting to about 69 million KRW and goods worth approximately 160 million KRW to Gangbuk-gu.
Furthermore, the district is promoting the ‘Chuseok Donation Sharing’ event to continue warm sharing through the Chuseok holiday.
The event runs until September 29, the day before the holiday. Those wishing to participate can donate money and daily necessities at community centers and the Happy Sharing Gangbuk Food Bank and Market. The items will be used to support vulnerable residents in the area, including elderly living alone, people with disabilities, and multicultural families.
