However, as of the 11th, four days later, only emergency repairs have been made, and the situation has been left unattended, raising concerns about the risk of a major accident.
On the 7th, under the influence of Typhoon Haiyan, Jinhae-gu in Changwon City experienced heavy damage such as soil erosion due to rainfall of 60mm per hour.
At that time, Mayor Heo Seong-moo conducted an emergency inspection of the soil erosion sites around Eoeun-dong in Jinhae-gu, as well as the retaining wall soil erosion sites behind Naengcheon Middle School and Naengcheon Elementary School in Jaeun 3 District.
Citizens who visited the site raised their voices to Mayor Heo, saying, “Measures must be taken against the construction company responsible for the Jaeun 3 District development project.”
Accordingly, the city judged that a detailed review of the appropriateness of the construction and the causes of soil erosion was necessary and is currently conducting a diagnostic service.
The Eoeun-dong area is experiencing difficulties in vehicle passage and farm road traffic due to soil erosion, but only emergency repairs have been made.
Resident A expressed dissatisfaction, saying, “They say it will rain again over the weekend, but the city has shown no movement even after four days, so I am anxious about when the soil will collapse again.”
Office worker B, who works in an industrial complex, raised concerns, saying, “There is a possibility of the 11th typhoon occurring, but it seems the city is suffering from safety negligence. If damage recovery is not carried out soon, there is a risk of a major accident.”
In response, a Changwon City official said, “The soil is saturated with water, which delayed the recovery,” and added, “We will restore it as soon as possible.”
