LG Hausys Artificial Marble Obtains Global Eco-Friendly Certification
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] LG Hausys' engineered marble has been recognized for using recycled raw materials and has obtained eco-friendly certification from the U.S. international certification organization 'SCS Global Services (Scientific Certification Systems Global Services)'.
LG Hausys announced on the 10th that six products in total, including three types of LG Z:IN engineered marble 'Hi-Macs - Granite' and three types of 'Hi-Macs - Volcanics', have acquired the SCS Recycled Content Certification from the U.S. ‘SCS Global Services’.
SCS Global Services is an international certification organization in the fields of environment, sustainability, food quality certification, testing, and standards development. It grants the eco-friendly certification 'SCS Recycled Content Certification' to products that contain at least 5% recycled materials in their raw materials or products.
Engineered marble is an interior and exterior building material widely used from indoor spaces such as kitchens and bathrooms to building facades. All six engineered marble products from LG Hausys used more than 10% recycled engineered marble raw materials during production, successfully obtaining the SCS Recycled Content Certification.
The Hi-Macs - Granite series, which received certification this time, is applied widely in various spaces including kitchens with about 40 different colors and a modern yet classic design, while the 'Hi-Macs - Volcanics' features a natural stone look with large quartz chips and is often used in luxury homes and commercial spaces.
Kang Shin-woo, Executive Vice President of LG Hausys Surface Materials Division, said, "By obtaining the notoriously stringent U.S. SCS Recycled Content Certification, the eco-friendliness of LG Hausys' engineered marble products has been recognized," adding, "We will accelerate our entry into the European market, where eco-friendly products using recycled raw materials are highly valued and in demand, and simultaneously increase our global market share."
