Regarding foreign and security policy, Minister Suga stated, "(The Japanese government) is developing policies based on the Japan-US alliance," and said, "To protect national interests, we will strategically promote a 'Free and Open Indo-Pacific' (a strategy advocated by the United States) while simultaneously building stable relations with neighboring countries including China."
