Second Disaster Relief Fund, Selective Payment 49.3% vs Nationwide Payment 45.8% [Realmeter]
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Six out of ten citizens supported the payment of the second disaster relief fund, but opinions were sharply divided regarding the beneficiaries, such as universal payment versus selective payment.
According to a public opinion survey conducted by Realmeter on the 7th at the request of YTN's 'The News' regarding support for and the target of the second emergency disaster relief fund, it was announced on the 8th that 60.3% were 'in favor' and 33.3% were 'against' the payment of the second emergency disaster relief fund. Regarding the payment target, opinions were evenly split with 49.3% supporting 'selective payment' and 45.8% supporting 'universal payment.'
Regarding support for the payment, support was generally dominant across regions and age groups. Opposition was relatively higher in Daegu-Gyeongbuk and among people in their 20s, at 41% and 40.8%, respectively.
Regarding the payment target, opinions were also divided between universal and selective payment across regions and age groups. In Daegu-Gyeongbuk, Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam, and Gwangju-Jeolla, public opinion favored selective payment. Additionally, selective payment was more supported among people in their 20s and 60s. Conversely, public opinion favored universal payment among those in their 40s and 50s.

This survey contacted 5,539 adults aged 18 and over nationwide, with a final 500 respondents completing the survey, recording a response rate of 9.0%. The sampling error is ±4.4 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
