Andong-si, Free Influenza Vaccinations for Children and Adolescents
Vaccination Target Expanded to 6 Months to Under 18 Years... "Blocking Simultaneous COVID-19 Spread"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] The Andong City Public Health Center in Gyeongbuk will provide free influenza vaccinations starting from the 8th for children and adolescents aged 6 months to 18 years old (born between January 1, 2002, and August 31, 2020) at designated medical institutions within the jurisdiction.
Influenza shares similar symptoms with COVID-19, and if both influenza and COVID-19 spread simultaneously, there is a risk of co-infection. To prevent simultaneous outbreaks, Andong City explained that the free vaccination program will be expanded to include middle and high school students who live in group settings.
Vaccination is available for those aged 6 months and older. Children aged 8 years or younger who are receiving their first influenza vaccination or have only had one previous dose will receive two doses at least 4 weeks apart starting from the 8th. Those with a history of previous vaccinations will receive one dose between the 22nd and December 31st and should receive one dose annually thereafter.
