[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The old public buildings in Gijang-gun, Busan, are being refurbished with a new look.
Gijang-gun has been finally selected for the 'Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Public Building Green Remodeling Project' and secured a budget of 1.8 billion KRW from national and city funds.
With the government public project selection, Gijang-gun will invest the secured budget of 1.8 billion KRW along with an additional 300 million KRW from the county budget to promote the project at a total of five locations, including four national and public daycare centers and the Gijang-gun Health Center.
The Public Building Green Remodeling Project is part of the '20 Green New Deal Policy' aimed at reducing energy consumption in buildings that have been in use for over 15 years and are used by vulnerable groups such as children.
After the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport started the public contest on June 12, Gijang-gun began preliminary preparations to review potential project sites within the district for the application.
The four national and public daycare centers and the Gijang-gun Health Center applied by Gijang-gun for the public project were reviewed and examined through the Green Remodeling Project support application and project proposal, and were finally selected by the Central Architectural Committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The Green Remodeling Project is currently under design service by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), and Gijang-gun plans to place construction orders later, aiming to complete the project by early 2021.
Through this project, the quality of the indoor environment, which has deteriorated due to aging public buildings causing reduced insulation, condensation, mold growth, and fine dust spread, will be improved.
The selected public buildings in Gijang-gun are ▲ Gijang-gun Health Center (680 million KRW) ▲ Ilgwang Daycare Center in Ilgwang-myeon (350 million KRW) ▲ Samdong Daycare Center in Cheolma-myeon (660 million KRW) ▲ Cheolma Daycare Center in Cheolma-myeon (270 million KRW) ▲ Gijang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center Daycare Center in Gijang-eup (160 million KRW), totaling five locations.
