[Featured Stock] Gukyoung G&M Shows Strength with SK Construction in Developing Korea's First Window-Type Solar Power Generation
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The stock price of Kookyoung G&M is on the rise. As Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) embarks on developing next-generation solar cell technology that can be attached to building walls and glass windows, news that SK Construction and Kookyoung G&M have developed the country's first window-type solar power generation system has recently gained attention.
As of 10:40 a.m. on the 7th, Kookyoung G&M's stock price recorded 2,625 won, up 15.13% from the previous day. With KEPCO recently initiating the development of a convenient solar power generation system, the news that this system has already been developed appears to have acted as a positive factor.
Earlier, KEPCO announced on the 26th of last month that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for technological cooperation with Unitest, which is researching next-generation solar cells, to commercialize glass window-type solar cells. The plan is to utilize the advantages of glass window-type solar cells, which are easy to install and have minimal space constraints, to apply solar cells to warehouse, factory, parking lot roofs, or automobile sunroofs.

In this context, Kookyoung G&M, which has already developed a similar system, has come into the spotlight. SK Construction announced on the 18th of last month that, together with Aluenc and Kookyoung G&M, it developed a window-type solar power generation system for multi-family housing by applying solar power generation facilities to operable household windows. Applying this system is expected to enable power generation and shading without compromising the aesthetics of the housing. Additionally, the electricity generated in this way is linked to a home network system, allowing real-time monitoring of power generation. SK Construction has also completed related patent applications and expects commercialization to be possible soon.
