Announcement of Administrative Order as of 8 PM on the 6th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Lee Gang-deok, Mayor of Pohang, announced an administrative order at 8 p.m. on the 6th to evacuate residents in low-lying areas, landslide-prone regions, coastal areas, and other vulnerable locations in preparation for the approaching Typhoon No. 10 'Haishen'.
The evacuation order is based on Article 40, Paragraph 1 of the 'Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety,' which allows authorities to order residents or people within the affected area to evacuate, or to order owners, managers, or possessors of ships and vehicles to evacuate them, when a disaster has occurred or is likely to occur and if necessary.
In this regard, Pohang City moved 315 people from 134 households in 16 landslide-vulnerable locations such as Sinheung and Yongheung-dong in Buk-gu, 170 people from 63 households in 8 steep slope areas such as Duho and Yeonam-dong, and residents of low-lying coastal areas including Guryongpo-eup in Nam-gu, and Donghae-myeon, Janggi-myeon, and Homigot-myeon, which suffered concentrated damage during Typhoon No. 9 'Maysak,' to designated safe evacuation sites.
Additionally, in accordance with the law allowing pre-designation of evacuation sites, residents were moved to nearby village halls, senior centers, schools, and government offices to ensure safe evacuation until the typhoon warning is lifted. Mayor Lee Gang-deok recommended minimizing outdoor activities from the early morning of the 7th when strong winds are expected and advised public institutions and private companies to flexibly adjust commuting hours.
Mayor Lee emphasized, "We will do our best to respond by swiftly deploying personnel for emergency measures through close cooperation among related agencies and maintaining an emergency communication system when situations arise."
