'Independent Reinstatement' Raised Again by Jang Je-won... Hong Joon-pyo Comments "Thank You"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] On the 6th, Jang Je-won, a member of the People Power Party, once again mentioned the issue of reinstating the four independent lawmakers.
On that day, Jang stated on his Facebook, "It is now time to resolve the issue of reinstating independent lawmakers," and asserted, "There is no reason to hesitate even in reviewing those who have already applied for reinstatement."
He said, "Starting tomorrow, the 100-day regular National Assembly session will be fully underway, beginning with the negotiation group leaders' speeches. It has already been five months since the general election, and over 100 days since the emergency committee was launched," adding, "The party name has been changed, the party platform has been revised, and the party audit for reorganizing local party chapters nationwide is also starting." It is time to reinstate lawmakers Hong Joon-pyo, Kwon Seong-dong, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Kim Tae-ho, who ran as independents after not receiving party nominations. Among them, Representative Kwon applied for reinstatement immediately after the election.
Jang said, "This is neither a complicated nor difficult issue," and added, "Delaying it without special reasons is not the proper attitude of a public party." He further criticized, saying, "From the perspective of those holding party leadership, it may be somewhat burdensome, but blocking the reinstatement of capable, proven leader-level lawmakers is to treat the party as the exclusive property of the emergency committee."
He continued, "The reorganization of local party chapters has already been completed. If someone is deemed unqualified, the reasons must be clearly stated," and said, "I hope the emergency committee, obsessed solely with strengthening party leadership, does not commit the folly (愚) of becoming an obstacle to opposition party unification. Please properly conclude the issue of reinstating independents before the regular National Assembly session fully begins."
