Naju-si, 94.3 Billion Won Included in Next Year's Government Budget Proposal
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Han-hyuk] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 4th that 59 local pending projects amounting to 94.3 billion KRW have been reflected in next year's government budget proposal.
Naju City has increased the government budget proposal for next year by 39 billion KRW from last year's 55.3 billion KRW, further enhancing the feasibility of realizing local development projects.
This achievement is attributed to Mayor Kang In-gyu and related department officials frequently visiting central government ministries, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to secure national funds.
Additionally, based on continuous cooperation with local district lawmakers, they have secured the justification for promoting pending projects and actively requested government budget support.
The next year's government budget proposal includes new pending projects to realize the vision of "Naju, the Energy Capital of Korea," such as ▲ Establishment of a Medium and Large Secondary Battery Materials and Components Testing and Evaluation Center (22 billion KRW) ▲ Demonstration of EV·ESS Used Battery Application Products and Technology Development (25 billion KRW) ▲ Construction of Korea Polytechnic University Power Technology Education Center (29.1 billion KRW).
Many pending projects to improve residential conditions for residents of the Innovation City and the old downtown area have also been reflected.
These include the complex cultural facility ‘Bitgaram Innovation City Life SOC Complex Center’ (16.2 billion KRW), which will house a children's library, comprehensive childcare support center, and local food direct sales market, as well as ▲ Cultural regeneration of the former Naju Rice Mill (4 billion KRW) ▲ Facility improvement of Naju Livestock Manure Sewage Treatment Plant (4.5 billion KRW) ▲ Construction of Nam-pyeong-eup public parking lot (5 billion KRW), all expected to enhance residents' convenience.
In the safety sector aimed at establishing a safety net for citizens' lives, projects include ▲ Maintenance of steep slopes in Geumseong district (1 billion KRW) ▲ Maintenance of natural disaster risk improvement district from Hojang (Dasi~Munpyeong) (22 billion KRW) ▲ Smart water network management infrastructure construction project (4.3 billion KRW).
The government budget proposal for next year, submitted to the National Assembly on the 3rd, is approximately 556 trillion KRW. It will undergo preliminary review by the National Assembly standing committees in October and November, comprehensive review by the Budget and Accounts Special Committee, and is expected to be finalized at the plenary session on December 2.
