Haenam-gun Provides Childbirth Support Grants to Families with Disabilities
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 3rd that it will provide childbirth support funds to families with disabilities who give birth to newborns starting this year.
The support target is families with disabilities who gave birth to a newborn after March 16th, according to the Childbirth Support Fund Ordinance for Families with Disabilities, and must have been registered residents of Haenam-gun and lived there prior to the newborn's birth date.
The childbirth support fund for families with disabilities is provided once according to the degree of disability of the parents. If the mother has a severe disability, 1 million KRW is provided; if the disability is not severe, 500,000 KRW is provided. The father receives 500,000 KRW only if he has a severe disability.
It is possible to receive overlapping support with other childbirth support funds, and overlapping support is also provided if both parents have disabilities. Applications must be submitted to the town or township office of the resident registration address within one year after the newborn's birth.

A Haenam-gun official said, "Families with disabilities inevitably face greater difficulties in raising newborns, so we have decided to provide additional childbirth support funds," and added, "We will continue to do our best to provide various welfare services for people with disabilities to improve the quality of life for families with disabilities."
