Yeonggwang-gun Appeals to Refrain from Visiting Bulgapsan Tourist Site
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeon Seong] Yeonggwang County, after completely canceling the '20th Yeonggwang Bulgapsan Sangsa Flower Festival' on the 10th of last month to block the local spread of COVID-19, appealed for visitors to refrain from visiting on the 3rd.
Instead of holding the festival, Yeonggwang County had planned to operate a flower viewing period for 17 days starting from the 18th of this month around the Bulgapsa tourist area.
However, the county judged that if many tourists flock to see the Sangsa flowers blooming in mid-September at the Bulgapsa tourist site, the possibility of COVID-19 spreading would be high.

Kim Jun-seong, the mayor of Yeonggwang County, said, “The current situation is a time when outdoor activities should be minimized. Not only visits by county residents to other areas but also visits by external tourists to Yeonggwang are seriously concerning. We ask residents and tourists to prioritize their own and their families’ health and safety from COVID-19 and to refrain from visiting the tourist sites, looking forward to the Sangsa flowers blooming even more beautifully next year.”
