View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea increased by 195 on the 3rd. This is the first time in 17 days since the 17th of last month that the number of new confirmed cases has fallen below 200.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on that day, the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases rose by 195 from midnight the previous day to 20,644.
Regarding the infection routes of the new confirmed cases, 188 were locally transmitted and 7 were imported from overseas.
Among the locally transmitted cases, 69 were in Seoul, 64 in Gyeonggi, and 15 in Incheon, totaling 148 cases in the metropolitan area. Additionally, there were 7 cases each in Ulsan and Chungnam, 6 in Gwangju, 5 in Jeonnam, 4 each in Gangwon, Busan, and Daejeon, 2 in Daegu, and 1 in Chungbuk.
Of the 7 imported cases, 3 were detected during quarantine upon entry. The remaining cases were confirmed positive while in self-isolation at their residences or temporary living facilities in Incheon, Daegu, Ulsan, and Jeonnam (one case each).
Combining local transmissions and imported cases excluding quarantine, 69 cases were in Seoul, 64 in Gyeonggi, and 16 in Incheon, totaling 149 cases in the metropolitan area, accounting for 76% of the total. Nationwide, confirmed cases were reported in 12 cities and provinces.

The number of patients who have been declared recovered and released from isolation reached 15,529, an increase of 173 from the previous day. The death toll rose by 3 to 329.
