Yongsan-gu, Additional Recruitment of 123 Participants for Hope Job Project
Additional Operation of 20 Projects from September 21 to December 20... Applications Accepted at Jurisdictional Dong Community Centers and District Job Plus Centers Until the 11th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Chang-hyun) is recruiting an additional 123 participants for the ‘Hope Job Project’ until the 11th to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The recruitment target is Seoul citizens aged 18 or older with work ability as of the project start date (21st). Those who have dropped out without justifiable reasons among previous public job project participants, those forcibly retired, university and graduate students, and families of public officials are not eligible to participate.
The project period is three months from September 21 to December 20.
Main projects include ▲support for organizing COVID-19 related data ▲safety guardians for street homeless and jjokbang residents ▲inspection of building attached parking lots ▲support for COVID-19 disaster safety countermeasures headquarters ▲disinfection at Korea Polytechnics Seoul Jeongsu Campus ▲support for public transportation COVID-19 disinfection, among others.
Not only the district office but also five institutions including Yongsan Police Station, Korea Polytechnics, Seoul Jungbu Technical Education Center, and Korea Railroad Corporation have joined forces to create 20 projects.
A district official said, “To overcome COVID-19, we created many jobs supporting disinfection personnel at public facilities in the district,” adding, “88 disinfection personnel at public facilities such as Seoul Station, Yongsan Station, and the police station are included.”
Working conditions are 3 to 8 hours per day, 5 days a week in principle, and wages range from 25,770 KRW per day (3 hours work) to 68,720 KRW per day (8 hours work). Weekly and monthly allowances are also provided.
Those who wish to participate should submit the project participation application form, consent form for personal information provision, and consent form for sex crime record check to the local community service center for Yongsan-gu residents or to the Job Plus Center on the 5th floor of Yongsan-gu Office for Seoul citizens outside Yongsan-gu.

Afterward, the district selects participants reflecting the qualification (preference) conditions for each project. They review the public job project participation period, household head status, number of dependents, income, and assets, with priority given to youth under 39 and vulnerable employment groups.
Additional points are given to North Korean defectors, marriage immigrant women, persons with disabilities and their families, multicultural families, and female heads of households.
The announcement of successful candidates will be on the 17th. The acceptance status will be notified individually by phone from each department (institution).
The Hope Job Project is an expanded concept of the existing public work project. Since July, the district has been continuing related projects to reduce the employment shock caused by COVID-19 and revitalize the stagnant local economy.
As of September, there are 527 participants.

Seong Chang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “We have relaxed the participation criteria for the public work project from the existing low-income vulnerable groups to residents who temporarily need livelihood support,” adding, “The district will do its best to overcome the COVID-19 crisis.”
