Yongsan-gu Strengthens Childcare Center Disinfection... 39 Hope Jobs Deployed
Completed recruitment and workplace assignments over the past month to prevent COVID-19 spread and provide jobs for vulnerable groups
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seongjang Hyun) will additionally support 39 Hope Job personnel from this month for cleaning and disinfection tasks at daycare centers.
The purpose is to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and provide jobs to vulnerable groups.
The district completed the placement of personnel at daycare centers after hiring twice over the past month.
The hiring targets are unemployed individuals or daily workers without regular income, those who lost jobs or closed businesses due to COVID-19, those on leave, and unpaid leave workers. Priority was given to those holding childcare teacher certificates or with childcare-related experience.
The main duties include ▲washing toys and teaching materials at daycare centers ▲wiping major and common areas of daycare centers and frequently touched objects with disinfectant ▲indoor and outdoor cleaning, and overall hygiene management of daycare centers.
The employment period is from August to December, with a principle of working 6 hours per day, 5 days a week. The hourly wage is 8,590 KRW, with weekly and monthly allowances provided.
A district official said, “We are mobilizing all possible methods to ensure children can live healthily amid the COVID-19 situation,” adding, “Hope Job participants will also be strictly instructed to follow quarantine rules.”
The district is also sparing no effort in supporting quarantine supplies for daycare centers. From March to April, supplies were distributed three times to 118 daycare centers (40 national/public and corporate, 20 private/cooperative, 44 home-based, and 14 workplace centers), including masks (42,994 units), hand sanitizers (3,689 units), and thermometers (278 units).
Additional masks (42,170 units) and disinfectants (118 units) are planned to be distributed this month.
Seongjang Hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “According to the government’s social distancing policy, all daycare centers in the area are currently closed,” and added, “Although emergency care is being provided, please take care of children at home as much as possible to ensure sufficient distancing.”
