Russia's COVID-19 Cumulative Cases Surpass 1 Million
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The state-run TASS news agency reported on the 1st (local time) that the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Russia has surpassed 1 million.
The Russian government's COVID-19 Prevention and Control Headquarters announced that "in the past day, 4,729 new infections were reported across 85 regions nationwide, including Moscow, bringing the total confirmed cases to 1,000,048."
With cumulative confirmed cases exceeding 1 million, Russia ranks fourth in the world for the highest number of cases, following the United States, Brazil, and India.
According to TASS, the number of new daily cases has remained in the 4,000 range for 17 consecutive days.

Russia's daily new cases began to surge in late April and exceeded 11,000 in early May.
