"Because of rude language and swearing, it was turned into a friendship test" Lim Tae-ju explains reason for deleting 'Simu 7 Jo' Jo Eun-san's critique post
Jinin Joeunsan's Blue House Memorial 'Seven Proposals' Refuted with 'Hagyo'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] Poet Lim Taeju, who refuted the writing of Jin-in Jo Eun-san, who posted the 'Seven Proposals for Current Affairs' in the form of a memorial to the king on the Blue House National Petition, stated on the 31st that the post criticizing Jo Eun-san disappeared because "a flood of unfamiliar accounts came and covered it with abusive language and profanity, so I set it to 'Friends Only' on Facebook."
Previously, Jo Eun-san posted a petition titled "Jin-in Jo Eun-san respectfully submits the Seven Proposals for Current Affairs" on the Blue House petition board.
The post was written in the style of a Joseon Dynasty memorial and included requests such as "Please reduce taxes," "Prioritize reason over emotion in policy-making," "Approach diplomacy with practicality over rhetoric," "Choose your ministers wisely," and "Protect the value of the constitution."
On the same day, Lim Taeju wrote on Facebook under the title "A Letter to Jin-in" saying, "I hope there is no misunderstanding," and added, "If this post also becomes invisible, it will be for that reason."
He continued, "I intended to write words that save people, but the despair when those words hurt and wound someone is indescribable," expressing his regret toward Jo Eun-san.
He added, "Like you (Jo Eun-san), I am also an ordinary person with a heavy livelihood, so it is difficult to pay close attention to politics. Indifference is irresponsibility as a sovereign, so I always keep my ears open, but I feel disheartened by the extreme confrontation and division in both politics and public sentiment. I believe you feel the same. That is why I suppose you wrote such a post borrowing the form of a memorial."
He then explained the controversial 'Ha-gyo' post. He said, "I was very pleased to read your post that mentioned my name. Honestly, if your memorial had been just a shabby and messy writing, I would not have written a post like 'Ha-gyo'."
He also said, "The memorial format itself had a novelty filled with humor and satire, and I think it resonated with those who sympathized with the content. I imitated the king’s tone to match the style of your writing and used expressions that sounded like instructions, hoping you would understand generously."
Lim Taeju also said he suffered from malicious comments after writing a rebuttal post against Mr. Jo on that day. He said, "Just like your post, my writing was also plagued by indiscriminate malicious comments. I hope there will be more debates based on common sense and civility, regardless of left or right, without losing dignity."
In an additional note, Lim Taeju said, "The 'Ha-gyo' post was not deleted but set to 'Friends Only.' You understand the reason, right? A flood of unfamiliar accounts came and covered it with so much abusive language and profanity that it was difficult to leave it unattended. I hope there is no misunderstanding."
Earlier, on the 28th, Lim Taeju posted on Facebook a rebuttal titled 'Ha-gyo_Responding to the Seven Proposals for Current Affairs,' countering Jo Eun-san’s claims. If the 'Seven Proposals for Current Affairs' is a memorial submitted by a subject to the king, then 'Ha-gyo' is a form of the king’s response to the memorial submitted by the subject.
Lim Taeju said, "I read your memorial. I could see your sincerity," but also criticized, "The sentences were flashy but hollow, imitating loyalty but corrupted. It seemed fluent at first glance but was misleading. It was petty and unreasonable, trapped in bias."
He pointed out, "You confused facts and opinions. Your truth and my truth were so far apart that it was heartbreaking."
He added, "There are all kinds of fabricated rumors circulating in the world," and warned, "Premature bandwagoning is extremely evil and makes everyone sick. Just as I guard myself, I hope you also guard and watch yourself carefully."
In response, Jo Eun-san, who wrote the 'Seven Proposals for Current Affairs,' posted on his blog the same day a post titled 'Response to the First Proposal of the People,' rebutting Lim Taeju’s writing.
Jo Eun-san said, "Your writing is beautiful, but what is inside is ugly," and added, "Do not dare try to subdue me with the trivial emotions of nine sheep, lost sheep, or shepherds. I earned my living honestly under the beliefs of my honest parents. But I did not blame the wealthy, nor did I shout 'Give more' or covet others' possessions. Step aside, a strong sheep does not need a shepherd."
He continued, "I ask everyone reading this not to compare poet Lim Taeju’s writing with that of an uneducated person like me. Please evaluate the writing excluding political positions."
