Hong Joon-pyo "Actively Support Medical Sector Strike... All Anti-Moon Jae-in Forces Must Unite"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joon-pyo expressed strong support for the medical community's strike.
On the 31st, Hong said on Facebook, "In real politics, power does not come on its own. It comes after fierce struggle."
He added, "If we lack strength, all anti-Moon Jae-in forces must unite and form an alliance," and "I once again strongly support the medical community's strike, which has boldly taken the front line to defeat the public medical school."
Despite the main opposition party, the United Future Party, distancing itself from the medical community's strike, Hong has consistently supported the doctors' strike. The day before, he also stated on Facebook, "I do not engage in politics that dance to public opinion. I judge and decide based on right and wrong," and "Many people mislead others by labeling the doctors' strike during the COVID-19 situation as a fight for their own interests, but my belief that the doctors' strike is justified remains unchanged."
He said, "Why establish only public medical schools? Create public law schools as well and appoint judges and prosecutors who obey orders as third-rate people, and establish public business schools where financiers and entrepreneurs are appointed based on recommendations from civic groups," adding, "Seeing the behavior of pushing through bad real estate laws, there is nothing to expect from the powerless opposition party, so medical professionals have taken to the streets directly."
