[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] SC First Bank announced on the 31st that it is recruiting participants for the 'Women in Fintech Academy,' a fintech startup incubation program for young women, until the 22nd of next month.
This follows SC First Bank's signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 11th with the Korea Center for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WISET), under the Ministry of Science and ICT, to collaborate on social contribution activities aimed at strengthening and revitalizing fintech startup capabilities among young women.
The recruitment target is women aged 35 or younger (as of August 31) interested in fintech startups, who can apply as teams of 1 to 3 members through the academy's online application page. A total of 30 teams will be selected and announced on the 28th of next month.
These prospective startup teams will participate in a startup capability enhancement program from October to December to concretize their fintech business models and gain practical understanding of fintech entrepreneurship. The detailed program includes ▲ online and offline education for proper business plan writing ▲ global fintech education and practical mentoring involving employees of SC First Bank and Hong Kong SC Bank ▲ one-on-one commercialization coaching with female entrepreneurs and industry female technical mentors in fintech-related fields utilizing WISET's network of women in science and technology.
Additionally, through the 'Demo Day' held in early December, teams will have the opportunity to demonstrate their business models to venture capitalists (VCs) and angel investors. All teams participating in Demo Day will receive a startup support fund of 1 million KRW, and the top three outstanding teams will receive additional startup support funds and benefits such as support for producing investor relations (IR) pitching videos.
Choi Ki-hoon, Head of Marketing and Communications, said, "This academy is conducted to help young women realize their potential, enhance their basic fintech startup capabilities, and become successful entrepreneurs. We hope capable young women will pursue their big dreams in the fintech sector, the future of the financial industry."
