On the 30th, Choi Soo-jong appeared on MBC's entertainment program 'Those Who Cross the Line' (Seonnyeodeul) for a special episode titled 'Rivals of the Century: Jeong Mong-ju vs Jeong Do-jeon.'
During the broadcast, host Yoo Byung-jae said to Choi Soo-jong, "You are a time traveler of Korean historical dramas. For the 1st anniversary interview of 'Seonnyeodeul,' I wanted to invite you, senior."
In response, Choi Soo-jong expressed his thoughts on appearing, saying, "Every time I watch TV, I think 'The broadcasting station should make a program like this. These people play great roles,' and now I am standing here."
Choi Soo-jong recalled, "I was 27 years old when I did my first historical drama, '500 Years of the Joseon Dynasty.' When I delivered my first line, I was so bad at acting that all the seniors laughed. From that day, I followed the seniors, recorded their voices, and kept practicing while listening to the tapes."
When asked, "What is the hardest part of filming historical dramas?" he answered, "The hardest battle is with the seasons. It's too hot in summer and too cold in winter. I once wore up to eight layers of thermal underwear in winter. There was a scene where I wasn't supposed to cry, but I shed tears because it was so cold, and it became an NG (no good) take."
He also said, "I once had a horse-riding accident while filming 'The Great King's Dream.' My shoulder blade and spine were crushed. My right arm twisted so much it touched my left arm. The horse died at that time."
He added, "I don't use a stunt double. I request this from the director. To emphasize that no stunt double was used, I ask them to film from the bust to the full body continuously."
Upon hearing this, Jeon Hyun-moo said, "At this level, you are a general. Ha Hee-ra must have gone through a lot emotionally. Have you ever fought over this?"
