Coupang Reports Zero Additional COVID-19 Cases at Jamsil Office... "Effectiveness of Ultra-Strict Social Distancing Among Employees"
Jamsil Office Mandatory Remote Work Ratio Over 90%... Effectively All Employees Working from Home Temporarily
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] It has been confirmed that there are no additional COVID-19 cases at Coupang Jamsil Office, where a confirmed case was reported among employees working remotely.
On the 26th, Coupang announced that as a result of the epidemiological investigation conducted by health authorities at the Jamsil Office, all 33 close contacts tested negative. Accordingly, the Jamsil Office will reopen on the 27th in consultation with health authorities.
The confirmed case at Coupang Jamsil Office was an office worker who had been working remotely after last attending the office on the 14th. After being tested on the 23rd, the employee informed the company of their COVID-19 positive status on the 24th. Coupang immediately closed the entire Jamsil Office, conducted additional disinfection, and notified all employees working at the Jamsil Office via text and verbally, instructing them to return home.
To prevent COVID-19, Coupang has temporarily increased the mandatory remote work rate to over 90% and recommended that only essential personnel come to the office, thereby strengthening social distancing measures beyond the current level. Since the early stages of COVID-19, Coupang has encouraged employees to work remotely, and until last week, more than 75% of employees at the Jamsil Office were working from home rather than the office.
Additionally, face-to-face meetings are limited to three people or fewer, and elevator occupancy within the company is restricted to no more than six people to maintain distancing among employees. Coupang is implementing COVID-19 prevention measures at all workplaces, including operating a safety monitoring team of about 2,400 people at nationwide logistics centers and Rocket Delivery Centers, not just at the Jamsil Office.
