Hong Joon-pyo: "Forcible Investigation of Gwanghwamun Rally Is Illegal"
"Minju Nochong Ignores, Opponents Commit Human Rights Violations"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joon-pyo stated on the 26th, "The Infectious Disease Prevention Act allows for the arbitrary investigation of past location information of infected or suspected infected individuals, but forcibly investigating the location information of all participants in the Gwanghwamun rally without a court-issued search and seizure warrant, as in this case, is illegal," adding, "There is no such general warrant system in our legal framework."
On the same day, Hong said on Facebook, "The government's response at the Budget and Accounts Committee was tantamount to a confession of committing illegal acts."
Hong also said, "Of course, one might ask for understanding by claiming the illegal acts were committed for infectious disease prevention, but the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions rally is tolerated because they are on their side, while the public's anger over real estate policies is seen as opposition and suppressed. This can only be viewed as an attempt to oppress," and pointed out, "It is difficult to readily accept this human rights violation against the opposing side. That is why the public criticizes it as political quarantine."

Hong added, "Using quarantine issues that involve the lives of the people for political purposes is truly something that should never be done," and said, "Moreover, the president himself threatening the people is not an appropriate action. Conduct proper quarantine activities."
