Gyeongbokgung Management Office and Royal Court Cuisine Cultural Foundation MOU
Operation of Royal Court Cuisine Experience Programs and More
The Gungneung Historic Site Headquarters Gyeongbokgung Management Office and the Royal Court Food Culture Foundation will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 25th at Heungbokjeon Hall in Gyeongbokgung Palace to promote the value of Joseon royal court food culture as cultural heritage. Going forward, they will operate royal court food experience programs in the Janggo (a storage place for sauces used in royal banquets, ancestral rites, and surasang) within the palace and jointly develop programs to raise awareness of the value of Joseon royal court food culture. The first step will be the opening of the Janggo in Gyeongbokgung Palace next month. They will hold royal court food demonstration sessions and exhibit materials and utensils related to royal court dietary life. The Royal Court Food Culture Foundation was established in 2018 to lay the foundation for royal court food culture. It preserves and inherits Joseon Dynasty royal court cuisine (National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 38) and researches royal court food literature.
