SC Jeil Bank, First in Korea to Add Open Banking Feature to Keyboard Banking Service
Jeil Bank, Redesign and Customer Experience Overhaul
Added Safety and Convenience Features Including Transfer Cancellation Before Recipient Receipt and Emojis
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Kim] SC First Bank announced on the 25th that it has equipped its keyboard banking service with the country's first open banking service and added additional features considering safety and convenience, such as canceling transfers before the recipient receives the money and sending emoticons. The design, including user interface and user experience (UI/UX), has also been completely revamped.
Keyboard banking is a service that allows users to perform simple banking tasks such as small transfers (up to 2 million KRW per day across banks) and account inquiries without switching screens by pressing the ‘SC First Bank logo button’ implemented on the keyboard within a smartphone messenger chat window, without installing a separate application (app). It greatly simplifies the process of launching a separate mobile banking app and logging in to transfer money via smartphone into a single shortcut key on the smartphone keyboard.
SC First Bank first introduced the ‘keyboard banking’ service for Android smartphones in January 2018, and in November of the same year, it became the first in the country to launch the keyboard banking service for iOS version iPhones. Keyboard banking can be used anywhere on mobile screens where the keyboard is activated, including various social network services (SNS) such as portal sites, KakaoTalk, Instagram, and Facebook, not only on smartphones but also on tablet PCs. Transfer fees are waived.
The core new feature of the keyboard banking service, which reflects the functions and design of the fully revamped mobile banking app from last July, is the open banking service. Customers who have subscribed to SC First Bank’s open banking service can easily check balances and transaction details of accounts at other banks through the open banking service within keyboard banking and make instant transfers. For contact transfers, a safety feature has been added that allows cancellation of the transfer before the recipient receives the money to prevent mistaken transfers. Additionally, emoticons and GIFs, which were not previously available, have been embedded in the keyboard to deliver more vivid messages.
SC First Bank will hold a customer event next month to celebrate the keyboard banking revamp. Among customers who transfer money from other bank accounts to SC First Bank accounts through keyboard banking, 30 people will be selected by lottery to receive AirPods Pro (wireless earphones).
