KEPCO Pays Employees 10.5 Billion KRW in Onnuri Gift Certificates... "A Boost to the Local Economy"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) announced on the 24th that it will pay approximately 10.5 billion KRW of its employees' September salaries in Onnuri gift certificates to revitalize the local economy.
This decision was made through mutual agreement between labor and management to fulfill its social responsibility as a public enterprise and is expected to bring vitality to the local economy.
A KEPCO official stated, "We hope this will serve as a stimulus to the local economy, including traditional markets, which have been stagnant due to the COVID-19 crisis and heavy rains," adding, "We will continue to actively promote social contribution activities to revitalize the local economy and take the lead in realizing social value."
Previously, KEPCO and its subsidiaries donated 590 million KRW, which was returned from salaries as part of sharing the pain caused by COVID-19, to the National Disaster Relief Association to support the revitalization of traditional markets.
To alleviate the blood supply shortage, the company launched a company-wide 'Love Sharing Blood Donation Campaign' and provided 100,000 handmade masks to vulnerable groups such as the elderly who have difficulty securing masks, using funds voluntarily raised by employees through the Love Fund.
