'Trump Windbreaker' Conway Senior Advisor to Leave White House at the End of This Month
"Focus on Family"
Anti-Trump Figure Husband George Conway Also Announces Political Activity Suspension
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Kellyanne Conway, Senior Advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump, is reported by CNBC on the 24th (local time) to be leaving the White House at the end of this month.
According to the report, Conway informed President Trump of her decision in the White House office the day before.
In a statement, Senior Advisor Conway said, "I plan to leave the Donald Trump administration at the end of August," adding, "This is entirely my choice and my voice."
She continued, "When the time comes, I will announce my future plans," and added, "For now, I will focus on my beloved family."
Conway, who has four children, said, "As millions of parents nationwide know, children studying at home during times like these need attention."
Senior Advisor Conway was initially involved in polling advisory for the Republican Party before being abruptly appointed as the campaign manager for then-Republican presidential candidate Trump in August 2016. She is considered one of the longest-serving senior advisors in the Trump administration.
She is credited with playing a shielding role whenever Trump faced crises related to sexism and sexual harassment allegations during his presidential campaign, which was key to Trump's election victory.
Recognizing these achievements, she was officially appointed as a senior advisor to the Trump transition team in December of the same year. Since then, she has served as a senior advisor in the White House.
Meanwhile, Conway's husband, George Conway, is known as a prominent 'anti-Trump' figure. He has been active in organizing the 'Lincoln Project,' a group mainly composed of Republican supporters aimed at preventing Trump's re-election.
On the same day, George Conway tweeted, "I continue to support the Lincoln Project and its mission," but also stated, "I am stepping down from this project to devote more time to my family."
Both spouses have declared a pause in their political activities to spend more time with their family.
