Home Appliance Industry to Unveil New Products Next Month... Global Competition Intensifies
Samsung Projectors and Vacuum Cleaners, LG Rollable TV
Miele and Electrolux Showcase Dishwashers and More
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The home appliance industry is set to unveil new products in the second half of next month, aiming to capture the global market. It is expected that a variety of products will be released, focusing on lifestyle appliances including kitchen devices rather than major white goods such as refrigerators, washing machines, and TVs.
According to industry sources on the 23rd, Samsung Electronics is likely to showcase new robot vacuum cleaners and home projectors at the 'Life Unstoppable' event held in early next month. The new home projector, tentatively named 'The Premiere,' is a home cinema projector that allows users to enjoy a high-definition, ultra-large screen inside their homes.
Additionally, separate from the event, Samsung Electronics is preparing to launch the 'Cube,' a compact specialized storage refrigerator, in the second half of this year. The Cube refrigerator is designed to store wine, beer, cosmetics, and more at optimal temperatures, and it can be freely placed and used anywhere in the home, such as the bedroom, kitchen, or living room.
The new kimchi refrigerator is also one of the key products to be introduced in the second half of the year. A shoe dresser (tentative name) that deodorizes and removes moisture from shoes is expected to be unveiled as early as the second half of this year.
LG Electronics is expected to showcase the 'OLED Gallery TV,' 'LG NanoCell 8K TV,' and sound bars at the IFA 2020 international electronics exhibition held in Berlin, Germany, from the 3rd to the 5th of next month.
The company is also preparing to launch the world's first rollable TV in the third quarter of this year. The rollable TV's most notable feature is its use of LG Display's OLED panel, which allows the screen to be rolled up. Like Samsung Electronics, LG is also awaiting the release of a new kimchi refrigerator.
New products from overseas luxury home appliance brands will also arrive in Korea next month. Germany's Miele is reported to introduce a dishwasher equipped with an automatic detergent dispenser. Miele's independently developed 'PowerDisk' analyzes the degree of dish contamination and automatically dispenses the appropriate amount of detergent.
