Endless COVID-19... Food and Dining Industry Introduces Various 'Jipkok' Menus
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] As the longest rainy season in history ended, interest in 'home-stay' menus that can be enjoyed at home is increasing again due to the resurgence of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). In response, the food and dining industry is targeting so-called 'home meal families' who eat at home by launching delivery menus and convenience foods that can be enjoyed at home for customers who prefer home-stay menus.
According to the distribution industry on the 22nd, Pizza Alvolo recently launched a new menu called 'Palja Pizza.' Palja Pizza is a pizza that contains eight different flavors in one pizza, with each slice featuring popular toppings such as pepperoni, bacon, pumpkin, and hot chicken, making it a colorful and eye-catching menu.
Instead of increasing the mozzarella cheese content, the amount of 'Grana Padano' cheese, a natural seasoning used in Italy, was increased to enhance the umami of the toppings. Under the slogan 'Eight ingredients, eight times of care, eight flavors,' the focus was on the original taste of the raw materials. Since it consists of eight flavors, it is good for sharing comfortably among several people, and although it is a single item menu, it is popular among single-person households as it allows them to enjoy various tastes at once.
Dongdaemun Yeopgi Tteokbokki recently strengthened its side menu lineup by introducing a new product, 'Cheese Mandu.' The new cheese mandu contains four types of cheese: Gouda cheese, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, and cream cheese, allowing customers to enjoy a rich cheese flavor. It is composed of two types: 'Pongdang Cheese Mandu,' served with tteokbokki, and 'Crispy Cheese Mandu,' which is fried crispy and served separately. The soft cheese flavor pairs well with the spicy taste of tteokbokki, and it has received positive responses from consumers as it can be enjoyed as a generous set when delivered together.
Mapo Galmaegi recently launched 'Spicy Galmaegi' and 'Whole Garlic Pork Skin' as convenient side dishes. These two products, the first restaurant meal replacement (RMR) products from Mapo Galmaegi, reproduce the taste of eating at the store based on the company's expertise in meat processing technology and HACCP-based manufacturing know-how.
Spicy Galmaegi is characterized by a deliciously spicy sauce and generous portions, while Whole Garlic Pork Skin features 100% domestic pork skin, roasted whole garlic, and a special sauce that enhances the umami flavor. Both menus are perfect as drinking snacks, making them ideal for home drinking enthusiasts.
Ottogi recently launched three vegetarian convenience foods so that vegetarians can also enjoy home-stay menus. 'Green Garden Mandu' is a vegetable dumpling made with 10 kinds of vegetables, characterized by a clean and light taste harmonizing from the vegetables. 'Green Garden Curry Fried Rice' is a product with a chewy texture along with the rice grains. 'Green Garden Morning Glory Fried Rice' adds flavor by including 'Morning Glory,' which is often used in Southeast Asian cuisine and is popular domestically.
