Italy Reports 1,000 New COVID-19 Cases Daily... Highest Since Lockdown Lifted
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] The daily number of new COVID-19 cases in Italy is approaching 1,000, setting a new record high since the lifting of lockdown measures.
On the 21st (local time), Italian health authorities reported 947 new COVID-19 cases. This is the largest number since May 14, when 992 cases were recorded in a single day. It is also the highest figure since the end of the strict lockdown measures that lasted for two months starting in early March. The upward trend is steep, with cases rising from 320 on the 17th, 403 on the 18th, 642 on the 19th, to 845 on the 20th.
Among the 947 cases, the northern region of Lombardia reported the highest number with 174 cases, followed by Lazio with 137 cases, and Veneto with 116 cases.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases stands at 257,065, while the death toll increased by 9 to reach 35,427.
