KT&G Publishes ‘KT&G REPORT’ Detailing Achievements in Sustainable Management Activities
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] KT&G announced on the 21st that it has published the ‘2019 KT&G REPORT,’ which contains the results of its sustainable management activities including Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts.
Since 2007, KT&G has been publishing reports to deliver transparent and accurate ESG information to domestic and international stakeholders and to share various social responsibility activities.
The ‘2019 KT&G REPORT’ is structured to enhance understanding by presenting activities in the three ESG areas as ‘Environmental Responsibility for the Future,’ ‘A Better Society through Inclusion,’ and ‘Establishing Advanced Global Governance’ following the main business achievements. Additionally, a section titled ‘Creating New Markets through Innovation,’ which includes next-generation products and key research and development achievements, was added to emphasize future growth potential.
In particular, this edition includes a ‘COVID-19 Response’ page to introduce various activities, as the corporate responsibility and role have become more important than ever due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. KT&G is actively participating in overcoming crises such as economic contraction and health and medical threats caused by the prolonged COVID-19 situation, in line with its management philosophy of being a ‘company that works together.’
To ensure broad communication with various stakeholders, KT&G carefully reviewed the disclosure recommendations of international ESG standards such as the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and reflected them in the report.
