Police Responding to 'Gwangbokjeol Rally' Complete 81% of COVID-19 Testing... 4 Confirmed Cases
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] In a comprehensive COVID-19 screening of over 10,000 police officers deployed to respond to the Liberation Day rally held on the 15th of this month in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, 81.3% have completed testing, with 4 confirmed positive cases.
On the 21st, according to the National Police Agency, as of 8 a.m. that day, out of 9,536 police personnel deployed at the Liberation Day rally site who were subject to the screening, 7,751 (81.3%) had completed testing. The police plan to complete all tests by the end of the day.
Among the tested police personnel, 4 were notified as positive cases by health authorities the previous afternoon, one each from the 16th, 34th, 42nd, and 43rd Mobile Units of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. One of them was transported to a hospital around 10:40 p.m. the previous day due to worsening symptoms, while the remaining three are under self-quarantine following health authorities' instructions.

A police official stated, "Other members of the unit where the confirmed cases occurred have completed diagnostic tests and are self-quarantining according to health authorities' guidelines," adding, "we will strictly adhere to quarantine rules and deploy personnel on-site only when safety is confirmed, doing our utmost to ensure the safety of citizens and on-site police officers."
