LGU+ Automates 5G Quality Optimization with AI
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] LG Uplus announced on the 18th that it has launched the ‘5G AI+’ system, which analyzes customer quality information using an AI (artificial intelligence) engine.
5G AI+ operates by having AI analyze big data on the quality of 5G services used by U+5G customers, and based on this, automatically adjusting the direction and angle of 5G base station antennas. Since the wireless environment where radio waves are transmitted from base stations changes daily due to new building construction, land development, and terrain changes, establishing such a system is important.

By utilizing 5G AI+, it has become possible to optimize customer service quality in real time by reflecting the daily changing wireless environment. Additionally, it can automatically select areas requiring additional facility investments such as base stations, helping to prioritize future investments. The automatic 5G quality improvement work using 5G AI+ began first in the metropolitan area and Gangwon region in July. Park Song-cheol, Executive Director of LG Uplus NW Technology Operations Group, said, “In line with the AI era, 5G quality will improve as a next-generation network technology. We will develop various solutions that can enhance quality along with the expanding 5G coverage and provide them to customers.”
