Yangcheon-gu Operates Online Resource Circulation Experience Class During Summer Vacation
Produced Online Resource Circulation Experience Class Video for Elementary Students, Officially Uploaded to YouTube
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) will conduct an online resource circulation experience class for children during the summer vacation.
The resource circulation experience class is an event held annually for elementary school students in the area, where children visit the site in person to experience waste separation and recycling craft making, aiming to reflect on the meaning of recycling. However, this summer vacation, it will be operated non-face-to-face to practice social distancing due to COVID-19.
This experience class will be conducted online by uploading lectures tailored to the level of elementary school students, taught easily and interestingly by professional instructors, on Yangcheon-gu Office's official YouTube channel 'YangcheonTV'. The lecture consists of two parts.
In Part 1, participants will consider the indiscriminate use of resources and the resulting environmental pollution, and learn the correct waste separation methods. In Part 2, there will be a craft experience using commonly used disposable plastic cups, stimulating children's curiosity and imagination.
An official from the district explained the purpose of the operation, saying, "The video is currently being produced and will be uploaded on YouTube in August. We hope that more children will take an interest in the environment and resource circulation and have an opportunity to think about the necessity of recycling."
Meanwhile, since opening the Resource Circulation Promotion Education Center in 2008, Yangcheon-gu has operated resource circulation experience classes every spring and summer vacation, providing children with experiential learning using recycled materials. Last summer vacation, about 130 elementary school students in the area participated.
