Scholarships Worth 100 Million KRW Awarded to 50 Descendants of Independence Patriots
Starbucks is sponsoring 100 million KRW for the Independent Cultural Heritage Protection Fund and 100 million KRW in scholarships for descendants of independence activists. On the 13th, an event supporting the Cultural Heritage Administration and activities to protect independent cultural heritage was held at the Starbucks Support Center. The Independent Cultural Heritage Protection Fund will be used for the purchase and exhibition of artifacts related to independence activists. The scholarships will be awarded to fifty descendants of independence activists. Since 2009, Starbucks has been engaged in various cultural heritage protection activities, including volunteering, Heritage Cinema (screening of registered cultural heritage films), development of cultural products, and providing free beverages. Since 2015, Starbucks has also focused on cultural heritage preservation. They donated two handwritten works by Baekbeom Kim Gu and sponsored 300 million KRW for the restoration of the Korean Empire Legation in the United States, and provided 160 million KRW in scholarships to eighty-three descendants of independence activists.
