Two Additional COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in Gwangju...Total Now 218
One Case Each Under Investigation for Infection Route and Overseas Entry
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Two additional COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Gwangju. One case is from community transmission and the other from an overseas entrant, bringing the total cumulative cases in the region to 218.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 13th, a man in his 40s, Mr. A, residing in Chipyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, was confirmed positive for COVID-19 the previous day.
Mr. A began experiencing symptoms such as sore throat and headache from the 11th and had a specimen collected at the Seo-gu Public Health Center screening clinic on the 12th.
Gwangju City has classified Mr. A as case number 217 and is focusing on tracing the infection route, movement paths, and contacts.
A teenage male who entered from Vietnam was also confirmed positive and classified as ‘Gwangju case 218.’
Case 218 has no particular symptoms and arrived at Incheon Airport around 6:30 AM the previous day.
Following the overseas entrant guidelines, he was immediately quarantined at the Fire Service Academy dormitory upon arrival in Gwangju at 1:30 PM the same day, with no other movement paths or contacts.
Meanwhile, since the second wave of COVID-19 began in Gwangju on the 27th of last month, 185 people have been confirmed positive.
By age group: under 10 years old - 5 cases, teens - 9 cases, 20s - 7 cases, 30s - 14 cases, 40s - 28 cases, 50s - 42 cases, 60s - 46 cases, 70s - 21 cases, 80s - 8 cases, 90s - 5 cases.
