Sookmyung Girls' High School Twins Sentenced to 1 Year 6 Months in Prison with Probation in First Trial (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Twin sisters accused of taking exams after receiving answers in advance from their father, a former head of the academic affairs department at Sookmyung Girls' High School, were sentenced to probation in the first trial.
On the 12th, Judge Song Seunghun of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 12 sentenced sisters A and B, daughters of former Sookmyung Girls' High School academic affairs head Mr. Hyun, who were charged with obstruction of business, to 1 year and 6 months in prison with 3 years of probation each.
At the sentencing hearing held on the 17th of last month, the prosecution requested prison sentences of 3 years for the long term and 2 years for the short term for the twins respectively. Mr. Hyun, the father who was tried before his two daughters, was found guilty of obstruction of business, and his 3-year prison sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court in March.
Despite the Supreme Court's final guilty verdict against their father, the twin sisters consistently denied the charges.
