Boseong-gun Joins Gurye-gun Flood Recovery Efforts After Record Heavy Rain Damage

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yongchul] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that it has established a flood recovery support plan for Gurye-gun, which suffered great damage from heavy rain, and dispatched equipment and personnel.
To this end, 56 recovery equipment including quarantine vehicles, water spraying trucks, excavators, and dump trucks, as well as 86 operating personnel, were urgently dispatched over two days on the 11th and 12th with the necessary equipment and essential personnel.
Kim Cheol-woo, the mayor of Boseong-gun, visited Gurye-gun Office and Hadong-gun Office to deliver consolation goods and encouraged volunteers deployed at the recovery sites.
He also comforted the residents of Gurye-gun who suffered flood damage, and the heads of Boseong Nonghyup and the Livestock Cooperative promised active support.
In particular, four wildfire suppression vehicles necessary for water supply and cleaning were deployed to livestock farms severely damaged, and quarantine vehicles from the health center and Boseong Livestock Cooperative were deployed for disinfection activities in flooded areas. Four electrical technicians are working on restoring electrical facilities cut off by the flood. About 20 volunteers from the Boseong-gun Saemaeul Association are working hard at the recovery site in Masan-myeon, Gurye-gun.
Relief supplies and consolation goods were also delivered. Boseong-gun provided green tea soap, canned green tea, and bottled green tea worth about 7 million won not only to Gurye-gun but also to Gokseong-gun and Hadong-gun, which suffered flood damage. The Boseong Tea Producers Association, Borim Jeda, and Boseong Nonghyup donated tea-related products.
Mayor Kim said, “I sincerely thank the volunteers who joined to share the pain of our neighbors and everyone who is working hard at the flood damage sites,” adding, “Boseong-gun will also strive together so that the daily lives of Gurye-gun residents can recover quickly.”

Meanwhile, from the 5th to the 9th, Gurye-gun experienced a record-breaking heavy rain of 379.5mm, equivalent to one-third of the average annual rainfall, causing two casualties, flooding of 1,182 houses, flooding of farmland and livestock sheds, and loss of roads and bridges. Although all available personnel are mobilized for recovery work, it is expected that considerable time will be required due to a shortage of manpower and equipment.
