Gwangju Nam-gu Identifies 16 Projects in 3 Major Areas of the 'Korean New Deal'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 11th that various Nam-gu-type New Deal projects reflecting the characteristics of the region have been discovered by each department of the district office in relation to the 'Korean New Deal Project' promoted as a national policy project by the government.
According to Nam-gu, the newly discovered Nam-gu-type New Deal projects by each department this time consist of 16 projects in three major areas: ▲Digital New Deal (5 projects) ▲Green New Deal (9 projects) ▲Strengthening Safety Nets (2 projects).
Digital New Deal projects include the smart city pilot city, establishment of an early warning system for disaster response, support for small business online business, establishment of elderly care infrastructure, and digitalization of agricultural production with the creation of smart farms.
In the Green New Deal sector, projects include undergrounding of power lines, green remodeling, creation of smart green industrial complexes, expansion of green mobility such as electric and hydrogen vehicles, establishment of a renewable energy solar power diffusion base, smart green cities, establishment of energy management efficiency smart power grids, restoration of green ecosystems through urban forests, and smart sewage system construction projects.
Strengthening safety net projects include enhancing digital accessibility for vulnerable groups in rural and fishing villages and supporting new entry and transition in the employment market.
Accordingly, Nam-gu plans to hold the 'Nam-gu-type New Deal Project Discovery Report Meeting' early next month to finalize the projects, then prepare a comprehensive plan and detailed project plans for the Nam-gu-type New Deal projects and proceed with full-scale project implementation.
In particular, to successfully promote the Korean New Deal national project and the Nam-gu-type New Deal projects reflecting regional characteristics, a TF team led by the deputy district mayor will be formed, and efforts will be made to secure project budgets through continuous communication with the central government and Gwangju City.
