East Asia-Latin America Cooperation Forum Cyber Secretariat to Hold Online Workshop on the 13th
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 11th that it plans to hold the 10th East Asia-Latin America Cooperation Forum (FEALAC) Cyber Secretariat Workshop in the form of a video conference on the 13th.
FEALAC is an interregional dialogue body launched in 1999 with the goal of promoting cooperation and mutual understanding between East Asia and Latin America. It consists of a total of 36 member countries, and the Korean government has been hosting the Cyber Secretariat since 2011.
Representatives from the 36 FEALAC member countries and experts from both regions will attend the workshop to communicate in order to continue cooperation and exchange among member countries despite the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Amid the ongoing global socio-economic downturn caused by COVID-19, the workshop will feature discussions among member country representatives on the theme of "Global Socio-Economic Outlook under the COVID-19 Situation and Measures to Strengthen Interregional Cooperation at the FEALAC Level."
Additionally, experts from international organizations in both regions, including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), and the United Nations (ECLAC, ESCAP), will participate to discuss topics such as "The Socio-Economic Impact of COVID-19, Recovery Prospects, and Long-Term Solutions."
