Call for Applications for the 6th Phase of Leading Projects in Aging Public Building Renewal
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] A new maintenance plan will be established and implemented for aging public buildings with weakened safety performance.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 11th that starting from the 12th, it will hold a public contest for the '6th Public Building Renewal Leading Project' targeting central government ministries, local governments, and public institutions to revitalize the aging public building renewal project.
The Public Building Renewal Leading Project is a project that leads the improvement of public convenience and revitalization of the local economy by redeveloping aging public offices with weakened safety performance into mixed-use facilities such as public, convenience, and revenue-generating facilities.
Since 2015, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has selected the Public Building Renewal Leading Project annually, reviewing and supporting project models through budget support in project districts. So far, a total of 16 sites have been selected as leading projects over five rounds, including Seocho-gu Office in Seoul, Iksan City Hall in Jeonbuk, and Seryu-dong Community Center in Suwon.
The Public Building Renewal Leading Project to be announced this time will fairly evaluate public interest and aging degree for projects applied by each institution by October 12, and selections will be made in November.
