Ministry of Science and ICT Grants Full Six-Month Waiver on Radio Usage Fees for Special Disaster Areas
[Asia Economy Reporter Seolgina Jo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 10th that it will fully waive the radio wave usage fees for six months for wireless stations established in Anseong-si, Gyeonggi; Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon; Chungju-si, Jecheon-si, and Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk; and Cheonan-si and Asan-si, Chungnam, which were declared special disaster areas due to prolonged heavy rainfall.
With this measure, it is expected that 1,508 wireless station operators (14,679 wireless stations) in the affected areas will receive the benefit of the radio wave usage fee waiver.
The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to send notices in September informing that the waived amount will be reflected in the bills from the 3rd to the 4th quarter. Eligible recipients can receive the waiver benefit without a separate application.
