View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunwoo Lee] The American CNN reported on the 6th (local time) that manipulated videos related to the massive explosion disaster in Beirut, Lebanon are spreading on social networking services (SNS) and other platforms.
It is known that edited versions of the explosion site footage, with missiles and other objects inserted, are being shared through major social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok. CNN explained that videos have been manipulated by changing the original footage, which showed smoke rising from the explosion, to a 'negative' color tone and adding missile-like objects.
A CNN Beirut bureau staff member who filmed the original footage of this manipulated video emphasized, "At that time, I did not see any missiles nor hear any sounds of aircraft or drones." Although some of the manipulated videos circulating on Facebook have been labeled as "fake information," CNN pointed out that other videos, including one with 8,400 views, are still spreading without restrictions.

Earlier, Lebanese authorities also drew a clear line, stating that contrary to various conspiracy theories circulating inside and outside Lebanon, there was no Israeli attack, and the theory of Israeli involvement is fake news. According to Russia's TASS news agency, the Lebanese Army Command denied any pre-planned explosion or possibility of an attack the day before and stated that the theory of Israeli involvement is a false rumor.
